Petro-Canada to build 50 new EV chargers in coast-to-coast network

A road trip in your electric car across Canada might be closer to reality than you think.

Canadian fuel company Petro-Canada announced Wednesday its plans to roll out 50 new EV chargers that will connect the country from coast-to-coast.

Petro-Canada said the additions will offer DC fast chargers in both CHAdeMO and CCS/SAE connectors to support a wider range of vehicles. Users can expect to see up to a 200 kilowatt charge in less than 30 minutes. This can charge most EVs up to 80 per cent.

“Keeping Canadians moving is what we do. We know the needs of our customers are evolving as we transition to a low-carbon future which is why we are excited to expand our current offering to support this growing customer segment,” said Kris Smith, executive vice president.

“With more than 1,800 retail and wholesale locations across the country we have the network in place to build Canada’s first electric highway, providing coast-to-coast EV charging for our customers.”
