Air Canada expands inflight entertainment through expansive Apple TV+ collection

Canada’s flag carrier is the first airline in Canada to offer Apple TV+ original programming onboard

As Air Canada continues to invest in a variety of onboard enhancements, including expanded inflight and Maple Leaf Lounge menus, upgrades to their Aeroplan loyalty program, and offering free in-flight texting sponsored by Bell, the flag carrier is now the first airline in Canada, second globally, to offer Apple TV+ original programming on their inflight entertainment system.

Launched August 1, travellers on Air Canada will be able to find exclusive Apple TV+ original programming, including Ted Lasso, Bad Sisters, Severance, Foundation, and many more. Among my favourites include The Morning Show. Plus, new and returning Apple TV+ subscribers get two free months.

I had a chance to experience to new partnership on a recent flight, and travellers will quickly notice the breadth of programming available on the entertainment system. Gone are the days where you stare at the moving map for hours on end—though I still enjoy doing that from time to time!

“Inflight entertainment is an important part of customers’ travel, particularly on long-haul flights,” said John Moody, Managing Director of Product Design at Air Canada. “This new partnership with Apple puts us on track to increase our onboard entertainment content by more than 95 per cent since last year.”

Global Traveler recently recognized Air Canada as Best Airline for Onboard Entertainment for the fifth consecutive year, and by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) with the Passenger Choice Award for Best Entertainment in North America.

Air Canada offers an impressive collection of 420+ movies, 1,000+ TV episodes, 130+ music albums, podcasts, and more. At the same time, I most appreciate the very current rotation of content, including coming-soon flicks like Mattel’s Barbie. It also features an easy filter that helps travellers find movies they can finish before the end of their flight.

The navigation and experience is slick, especially onboard their aircraft with newer entertainment systems like their Boeing 777s, 787s, 737-MAX, Airbus A330s, and A220s.

Air Canada is also the only Canadian carrier to offer live Canadian TV featuring English and French channels (primarily Bell Media channels).

You can find Apple TV+ content on inflight experiences across Air Canada, Air Canada Express, and Air Canada Rouge.
