Flair Air grounds new flights to Florida, California

After announcing an expansion to the Sunshine State, a Kelowna-based low-cost airline is grounding new flights to Florida.

Flair Air is halting new routes to Florida and California amid “disappointing load factors,” effective Thursday.

The carrier was offering flights to Miami, Tampa Bay, and Palm Springs from Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto.

Flair is facing aggressive competition from WestJet-owned Swoop, while Air Canada Rouge continues to compete in sun cities, including Florida and California.

The airline is currently contacting passengers affected to provide refunds or alternate travel options.
