Air Canada flight delayed 5 hours because unruly passenger couldn’t order fish

We’ll file this in the odd books—an Air Canada passenger caused a five-hour delay after he threw a “hissy fit” over his dinner.

Before the Toronto-bound flight left Vancouver, flight attendants were taking orders for business class passengers when a man became “disruptive,” demanding to order fish for dinner. This, triggering a delay for the entire flight.

In a report from CTV News Vancouver, the passenger couldn’t eat meat nor gluten.

“He was very belligerent, very rude to the flight attendant. The flight attendant was very polite, she offered him several choices,” the witness said to CTV.

“He was very calm and was like, ‘If I don’t get fish, there will be a problem. One way or another, I will get my fish, either you serve it to me or I will serve it to myself,'” said another passenger to the local news station.

Eventually, the plane pushed back to the gate where the passenger was removed, however pilots had reached their limit hours and had to switch out, causing further delay.

The flight finally made its way to Toronto later on that evening, forcing many to make alternate arrangements.

Moral of the story: Don’t be that person.
