People would typically not assume pirate attacks are possible in 2019, but these modern-day cruise lines are prepared in case pirates to try to sneak onto one of their ships.
Spectrum of the Seas from Royal Caribbean as well as Sun Princess from Princess Cruises have exercises in use in case of an attack, especially where piracy has been known to take place.
These pirate drills on Sun Princess call passengers to take shelter in interior halls so cruise staff can work to seek persons of interest, while on Spectrum of the Seas, Safe Haven drills have people congregate in the middle interior of the ship.
Royal Caribbean has also added additional armed security for passenger assurance.
