Canada’s largest airline, Air Canada, has released a new app through an update Thursday that aims to improve passenger experience.
The new Air Canada app replaces the old software, and is the foundation for improvements and future rollouts as their loyalty program, Aeroplan, is set to be relaunched in 2020.
“Air Canada is focused on making travel easier and more comfortable for everyone, particularly through the use of the latest technologies,” said Mark Nasr, Vice President, Loyalty and eCommerce at Air Canada in a statement.
Features in the new responsive app include a reintroduced ability to login with your merged Aeroplan and Air Canada account which will automatically retrieve your bookings, book flights, view status, see standby/upgrade lists, boarding passes, as well as access in-flight entertainment options when flying on Air Canada Rouge routes.
New in this update include interactive airport and terminal maps for Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver which provides turn-by-turn directions and locations for amenities inside the concourses.
Air Canada is also set to migrate reservation systems to be in light with other Star Alliance partners on Nov. 18, while changeover is set to temporarily interrupt some services such as airport eUpgrades for Altitude members and changes to booking references on some Flight Pass reservations. The airline says these temporary changes are necessary as systems are rolled out across airports within their network and it’s expected to be completed in the coming months.
These updates are part of Air Canada’s larger focus to overhaul customer service and a refreshed digital-first initiative to modernize the way Canadians travel around the world.
