This year’s holiday shopping season is going to look quite different with the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to be a reality. Typically, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are a great way to snag tech deals signalling a month of holiday shopping rush, but with more of us shopping online from home this year, experts are anticipating a flood of packages in the mail.

The key this year: Know what you want and start early! According to Shopify, top categories for Canadian Black Friday Cyber Monday shoppers include apparel, electronics and computers, as well as toys, and more than half of Canadians plan to shop online only this Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Couriers and Canada Post alike will be working around the clock to deliver packages, and with health and safety at the top of mind, shipping may take longer than usual.
The good news is retailers like Best Buy are offering Black Friday-like deals weeks earlier, so this is a great opportunity to cross some of those big-ticket items off of your list.
Best Buy
Best Buy is preparing for Black Friday in-store, but also offering many great deals available online at home leading up to the shopping weekend. They are recommending customers shop early and secure deals when they see it.
They are also offering the Best Buy Black Friday Price guarantee. “If the price of one of the deals is lowered before Black Friday, Best Buy will refund the difference.” Free shipping over $35 is also available, and new this year is two-day shipping nationally and next day delivery in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
