Air Transat, a Canadian air carrier specializing in leisure travel, welcomed its first Airbus A321 capable of long-range distances.
This will allow Air Transat to connect passengers further into Europe, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean.
The A321LR can travel upwards of 4,000 nautical miles, and is the longest-range narrow-body jet currently sold globally.
“The arrival of this new generation of aircraft is an important moment for our company and our passengers in many respects,” said Annick Guérard, Air Transat COO.
The aircrafts are known to enable airlines to travel further while maintaining operating costs, in line with Air Transat’s objectives as a leisure airline.
JetBlue is also along the North American airlines deploying the A321 to go transatlantic.
Air Transat has 15 A321LRs in order and plans to have all Airbus aircrafts in their fleet by 2022.
